Ronald Reine: A Businessman Giving Back Through Art and Community

Ronald Reine, a well-known businessman in the Slidell area, has quietly but powerfully built a legacy of generosity and civic engagement. Through his consistent support for local arts, charitable organizations, and community development, Reine has become a vital force behind many initiatives that enrich the lives of others.

One of his most notable contributions came in 2014, when he hosted the 4th Annual Slidell Friends of the Arts Members’ Gala at his home in Treasure Isle. Themed “Passport to the Arts,” the event brought together art lovers, philanthropists, and civic leaders to celebrate the creative spirit of Slidell. The gala, which supports the City of Slidell's Commission on the Arts, was a festive affair featuring internationally renowned chef John Besh, whose gourmet creations paired beautifully with offerings from Abita Brewing Company, a cherished local brand.

Guests were immersed in a vibrant display of regional artwork, set against the backdrop of Reine’s elegant home—a reflection of his appreciation for the arts and his belief in community celebration. “I’m a firm believer in giving back. I feel like I’ve been really blessed, and I feel like I should share,” Reine remarked, capturing the heart behind his involvement.

Reine’s dedication to giving is evident in more than just high-profile events. He also donated a unique jaguar-themed pelican statue to Pope John Paul II Catholic High School, joining a popular local art trend that features creatively decorated pelican sculptures. The statue was part of a fundraising effort benefiting the Children’s Wish Foundation, helping to grant wishes for children with serious medical conditions. His donation served not just as an art piece, but as a beacon of hope and generosity.

His philanthropic portfolio doesn’t stop there. Reine is a steadfast supporter of Habitat for Humanity, an organization that builds homes for families in need, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, known for its world-class care and groundbreaking pediatric research. These ongoing commitments reflect Reine’s belief in helping both locally and beyond.

The Friends of the Arts, a group Reine has supported through his hosting and donations, plays an important role in Slidell’s cultural ecosystem. The organization partners with the city to promote cultural programming and ensure that the arts continue to thrive as an essential part of community life.

Whether it's through the culinary arts, public sculpture, or direct contributions to life-changing charities, Ronald Reine exemplifies what it means to be a community leader. His vision is simple but powerful: use your blessings to lift others.
